Curse of Frankenstein is my favorite as well, but I haven't seen all of them. The first Dracula was also very good. Pretty much the Cushing/Lee pairing was always gold.

I still like the older Universal monster movies the best, though. Probably just because I grew up on them as I doubt many people would say they are objectively better. Frankenstein meets the Wolfman is one of my all time favorites. I can pretty much quote every line.

I have only watched Frankenstein The monster of black lagoon and the invisible man all three were quite excellence Frankenstein vs the wolf man has a really low rotten tomatoes score is worth a watch you said it was your one favorites not one of the best

I'm not sure why it's rated so low as it isn't a marked decrease in quality like some of the later films (House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, etc.) it still has Lon Chaney Jr. and Bela Lugosi (Lugosi playing the monster!).

The sets are fantastic, the acting on par with the earlier films, the music is good. It's really all the best aspects of the Universal films in one movie.

Or maybe I'm biased because I've loved it since I was a kid...

And just so you know, a lot of the plot deals with stuff that happened in The Wolfman and Ghost of Frankenstein. So you might be a little confused if you don't watch those first.

The biggest actresses working today don't even hold a candle to the extras in Hammer movies...in my opinion, at least.

OP, I seem to remember a pretty twisted werewolf movie starring Oliver Reed being pretty good. I'm a big fan of Oliver Reed, though. Also, the 1959 Hound of the Baskervilles with Peter Cushing is a beautiful movie.

Also, since you're talking about Universal, the classic Boris Karloff Mummy is amazing. It makes you think we could have done without color film.

Cushing as Sherlock Holmes was great. Cushing was such a classy man. He elevated everything he was in.
You should check out Karloff in The Mask of Fu Manchu. It is never on tv because it's wildly. over the top racist.
The evil Fu Manchu hopes to find the legendary sword and mask of Genghis Khan so he can conquer the West and Asian men ravish White women. He actually says something to that effect.

The Brides of Dracula. It's crazy that it's the best of their Dracula movies but didn't even star Christopher Lee! Awesome showcase for Peter Cushing's Van Helsing, though. The Reptile was also one of my favorites when I was a kid, good atmosphere and a great make-up design for the monster.

The great thing about the Hammer films is the somewhat slow pacing. Morons used to The Fast and Furious franchise or Michael Bay prolefeed wouldn't be able to watch a Hammer film because their attention span is so short. They need a car crash, shoot out or explosion every 30 seconds to keep them in their seats.

I like all the Dracula films. Christopher Lee made 7 of them between 1957 and 1972. I also like the Brides of Dracula (1960), intended to be the sequel to Dracula (1957) but minus Dracula himself!

There were tits in Hammer films as well but everything tastefully done. It captured an era that is now sadly gone. I never tire watching those old films.
