Ampeg used to be the standard of quality but all ya need is just 4x12 and a decent head combo to overpower the damn drummers.

I used to have a jazz bass (too skinny and had problems with heavy strings on it), but I gots me big ol muddafukin hands, so the old baseball bat feels good man. I also like the sound of them. The nicest neck would be on my dad's Rickenbacker 4003 (1986?) but Rickys are all over the place for specs.
Jap bass? That Duff McKagan signature model was based off the mid 80's contemporary series (back in those few years where ALL Fenders were MIJ). Never played one, but nice lookin'. Not into G N' R, but that guy ain't a bad player.
If you like a jazz neck with precision body and pickup with a bonus jazz bridge pup, the P bass specials are perfect. Played an Indonesian one my old drummer had. Nice lil' bastard. I modified it super awesom-o. StanLeMan and I hijacked a thread last week talking bass shit. I explain mod there too.

The Japanese P Bass was really enjoyable. I literally could not stop playing it.

Guy was wanting £700 for it, not even a mark on it. Went back a couple weeks later and it was gone. Expected that though. Cracking bass.

I did see the thread about Jew Simmons copyrighting the Goyim.

English, are we? Well, we share the Commonwealth. 700 GBP... uh (online conversion to CAD....) $1175.55. That's a pretty nickel (we got rid of pennies). I played a Jap Jazzmaster guitar at the shop last year. Great quality, but at a price! It's nice when an instrument just fits, eh?

Flatwounds (I use d'Addario Chromes) have a nice, mellow tone, NO finger squeek, and sound like a dull set of rounds with a pick (great rock sound). They marry well with the bass drum. I play finger style and with pick, but none of that 'slapada bass' stuff.

I guess 6 now. I dont play much anymore but many moons ago a band i played with actually had an indie label contract.
At one point i had over $20k wrapped up in basses and gear. Two Ken Smith sixers and a full SWR rig, 4x10, 2x15, sm900 and a pretty full rack.
I got pissed at the guitar player because he was a lazy fuk and walked. Sold all my shit for a huge loss but i did keep one bass. A 1987 Music Man sabre.

Trying to be a rock star is something ill never do again. Haha

Nice MM. i had the exact same except black for a while. I traded a Knilling 3/4 size dbl bass for it brand new. The pickup in the stingray was way to hot compared to my other basses and just wouldnt EQ through my rig so i sold it off real fast. They are great basses though.
