Instruments and such come and go... really miss a few pieces I had.

I abandoned the lime light (at least enough of it for my shoe to be basked in) a long time ago. I just musically masturbate these days... maybe someday another band, who knows? but it'd just be for fun. I still pick it up.
I'd really like to multi-track record some stuff in my head, either that or grow more arms like one of those freak babies India keeps churning out.

Ha, i always wished i had one more finger on each hand.

Ill probably never buy another bass, the sabre is plenty good enough to f around on. Its funny how fast you lose your chops. Ill sit and plink around and my mind is telling my hands all this crazy shit but the hands just cant keep up any more. Lol

You can do a lot with a digital 8 track if you are good with the recording programs. We used to record new songs through some computer program onto an 8 track and they sounded almost as good as the studio album tracks.

8 track?That would be nice! Shit, if I were to make a demo, I'd have to plug into the computer mic input for a fat wall of ass. I'll get around to it someday, both ways!

He isnt super technical at all but ive always been a huge Joe Lally fan. First time i heard intervals played on bass was this tune. That got me into actually learning chords, reading and then later on to theory and part writing.

It was ernie balls I was told to use when I started playing guitar.

Then when I got my 1st bass they came loaded with Elixir nanowebs. What happened with them is they would last for ages but you would get what I thought was dead skin trapped between the windings,actually turned out to be a plastic coating.
I found this out after reading boiling strings takes them back to life. Boiling nanoweb strings makes the plastic peel off like a leper.

It wasn't till I got my Ernie Ball music man, that came loaded with D'darios ironically, that I prefered the D'darios over all other strings.

Never tried any other type of winding than round. Played a bass with half wounds.

I'll have to try different types of windings now.

That fukker is the reason why i sanded the finish off of my Sabre (when i was a kid). I wanted a natural finish, lofl.
He is also the reason i learned to tap and play stupid fast arpeggio stuff. Les was the man for chops 20 years ago.

I always used d adario mediums on the 4 strings.
After a while Smith sort of endorsed me and would sell me strings for less than 1/2 of retail because i went thru a lot of strings. I still used d adario mediums on my 4 strings tho.

Thread over a week dead... music theory and such. Man, I just figured the damn thing out myself over many years... I'm still discovering this and that through seeing the patterned shapes and intervals between the notes. Music theroy? I should sound musical!

I am in the same situation.

Leaned theory on my own. I still get sticking points until I find an explanation that makes it easy to understand.

I am quite familiar with explaining the Major scale, the pentatonic scale and the blues scale.

The modes is something I have not yet got to grips with.

So, we're pretty much in the same boat, eh? I think that as long as we can play in the right key, drive the drummer into time, and add a bit of spice to the song, we're doing our job. I know what the notes are on the fingerboard, but I just dont think so much in terms of 'notes'. Pretty much, doing the right thing at the right time. Modes? Well, I know of them! I really should be more versed in theroy, but I can fake it pretty well.

I find theory has brought a lot more confidence to my playing. Especially when figuring out songs by ear and in my head.

True enough. Could I ask you how long you've been playing? I can assure you this isn't an ego trip/ dick measuring/ who's been playing longer than who question. Just curious. For all it's worth, I've been bandless for a really long time.

I'm really not very good at playing, but I love the feel and the sound of flatwounds. Like fucking playing strings made of silk.
