Note: Broad terms and movements will be used for sake of simplicity.
We assembled at Mcintyer park around 0800.
After a quick brief we formed into waves and moved to the assembly area where 4-5 vans and a few trucks were staged to take us in.
The first wave left approximately at 0900 and was tasked to secure the ground and set up the sound equipment.
Primary Route (Approximate) Marked in Yellow
Incoming waves moved from the East to the west (1) towards the park.
The Park was separated into three sections. The east (2)/blue square was set aside for Antifa, (3)/red square was for the Alt-Right and the north was fenced off. There were two entrances (blue circles) at the south east for the Antifa side and the south west for the alt-right.
As the initial waves moved into the area they were met with screeching women and beta males (marked in purple square). The streets were also lined with oathcucks armed with AR-15s. Initially the leftists were handing out flowers and saying give love a chance. The police helicopter was over head.
Almost all waves entered into the unoccupied antifa side of the park (2) only to turn around exit the park, back onto the street, head west, enter the park at the south west entrance into order to get to the alt-right side (3). (This would be the cause of most of the tension and clashes throughout the day).
Once inside we noticed a police "snipers nest" on a roof over looking the park (4) where they were using telephoto lenses to take our pictures.
Once inside it was relatively peaceful and we cheered the incoming waves of alt-right activists and made fun of the liberals.
As the day progressed more antifa showed up and began to turn violent. The antifa were positioned at the south east of the park (purple square) cutting off incoming waves of alt-right (1) from the main body in the park (3).
Clashes began to erupt as the arriving alt-right attempted to break through antifa (5). Once they broke through they went into the antifa reserved section of the park (2) only to turn around, exit the park, then attempt to break through the antifa lines, head west and link up with the main body (3) (1:40 in below video).
Several times the alt-right sent reinforcements from the main body (3) to assist and break out encircled alt-right groups (5).
After numerous assaults with pepper spray, smoke bombs, sticks and bats, the alt-right groups stuck on the east side of the park (2) broke through the barrier separating the park in two (6). The police had abandoned this area to deal with more pressing issues (or so they say). Roughly around 11:30 the police called the assembly unlawful and told us to disperse. At the same time riot police and national guard troops in riot gear had formed up in a parking lot below the police snipers nest (7).
At this point the majority of the main body exited the park and headed west (8) following the red route back to Mcintyer park. The return march of the main body was mostly uneventful. An interesting event occurred when a bottleneck occurred which turned out to be hundreds of alt-right activists moving onto the side walk to avoid damaging any of the cars parked on the side of the road. If fact people were also picking up litter on the ground as they passed peoples houses. The main body entered from the south of the park then returned to the initial staging area.
**There was an odd truck parked on a hill facing the parking lot of the alr-right staging area. On it there was a directional antenna and a cell phone receiving antenna. Not to go conspiracy theory but this struck many as odd given the location and the event that was taking place, as well as the FBI being on the scene.
Back at Lee Park around 100-200? alt-right activists stayed at the park. The police, dressed in full riot gear moved from the parking lot (7) and entered Lee park from the north (9). They formed a line and pushed south towards the fence and into antifa (10). For the most part the police's objective was to clear the park. They were walking south and that's that. No though process what so ever. Most of the police encountered were state police and not local police (experiences may very). This could indicate some rift in the local police department and the government, which is why state police were used.
At this point /ourguys/ were on the street in smaller broken up numbers and were engaged by antifa (11).
Though there was now a state of emergency called for the city, antifa was allowed to march in very large groups. One of these groups numbering in the hundreds experienced a Dodge Charger running them over.
As groups sporadically returned to the park there were stories of Black Block pulling guns (presumed rifles) on /ourguys/ as well as jumping them any chance they got. The call came from even leadership that the police were on their way to clear Mcintyer park which is when people started to leave.
AAR Comments:
-The organizers did a great job of putting out information. We (the mob) knew the major moving pieces.
-The vehicle drop off was great. Very well organized and planned. Outstanding jobs
-Coming in waves had good optics. Antifa must have been wondering if we would ever stop coming.
-Security at the cars was great. Thank you to the guys who stayed behind to make that possible. For those of you who may not be a mobile this is a great opportunity in the future to contribute.
Recommendation: It took a long time for us to get there. In the future send in the first few waves to secure the area and set up, then march the entire main body down together.
Recommendation: Set up a command and control van or location. From here have google maps and drone feeds to see where issues are occurring and use radios to communicate with leaders on the ground. Example: sending future waves in from the west in order to avoid the congestion and the confusion of which side of the park to be on.
Recommendation: Set up and identify casualty collection points and water points (food/garbage) areas in the main protest areas
