The coin does fulfill a purpose, so some coins will stay, but it is unclear which ones. Even more unclear -- at which price. Bitcoin functionality remains unchanged regardless of the price.

That's the thing. The multi-millionaires are only millionaires virtually. However, hundreds of thousands is a drop in the market -- exiting at that scale is not a problem. Coinbase, Kraken, and many others will exchange that much for you quickly. Sure, you will need to pay taxes on the gains.

You can also buy metals for Bitcoin and have those delivered to you, if you find that is a better vehicle for storing value. You'll need to pay taxes when you sell the metals for fiat.

Don't store it at "companies" because they get hacked (or hack themselves) or don't actually hold a full reserve. Use Electrum on your PC or phone for day-to-day spending (with a paper backup), and a hardware wallet like trezor or ledger for significant amount.

If you want a card tied to the wallet, Xapo is an option (no US shipping, tho). Shift card is another.

There are several US companies and some more international. In US, veldt gold is one (confirmed legit), amagimetals is another. There's a third one that is the biggest but the name escapes me at the moment. Can look it up later.
