It seems HTML5 works, but not CSS. This is pretty much academic (in the sense of pointless), but it could be fun (or even useful) sometimes to use colors and text effects. Not sure whether CSS or BBCode could be implemented.

You should search with "discourse", the name of the software, for these kinds of things.

Apparently you need discourse browser or whatever it is to use it.
