I wouldn't call myself an aficionado but I have tried many cigars. I have few favorites I keep at the house but pipe smoking is my "thing". It's cheaper, better variety, and to me it's more "White". If you wanna know about either let me know.

Had a few very decent cigars in Cuba. Cohibas were great, but not the really thick ones, they took too long smoke.

I don't smoke cigarettes, but I was offered my first cigar about 3 years ago now. I occasionally get one now and then roughly every 2 months.

I had one just two weeks ago and it's been the best one yet. It was called Montecristo Edmundo from Cuba. Has anyone tried it?

I'm a fan of the Rumrunner cigars. Pretty inexpensive and great for chewing on long drives etc.

TBH I've never tried a pipe.

Cubans are fantastic. A nice flavored ACID 6x60 cigar goes pretty good. It's nice weather and oftentimes I'm pairing it with something to drink.

Either way I'd say cigars or pipes are way more manly than cigarettes.

You know cigars and pipes are both similar in that you are smoking but they are actually very different at the same time. I would think about which one intrigues you the most and focus on that and that only. Both take time and experience to get the most flavor and enjoyment out of your smoke. There's really no shortcuts and there are right and wrong ways to go about it. If I had to give up one, it'd be cigars. I get more enjoyment and value out of pipe smoking. Hell, they even make cigar leaf flavored pipe tobacco if I get to missing the flavor.
YouTube is full of videos for both. For cigars, I like some dude who has a channel called cigar obsession I think. He gives great tutorials and honest reviews although at times he can look a shade faggy dragging on a cigar. For pipes, I like this guy called muttnchop piper. He's long winded as all fuck but he knows his shit and gives good tips. But search around as there are really good vids out there and go slow. You can really fuck up a good cigar or bowl of baccy if you rush in and shit ain't exactly cheap anymore. Good luck. PM me if you have specific questions on either.

Cool. I will say this since you picked pipes. Start out with a cheap corn cob pipe before you start laying down good money for a briar or meerschaum. You can buy your baccy in small tins or in bulk by the ounce to save money. Drug store tobacco like half and half, Prince Albert, Captain Black or Carter Hall are great for learning on as they have descent flavor with very little tongue bite. They are forgiving for the beginner and are readily available. A descent cob pipe should be three or four bucks. Use matches at first then move to butane for your fire.

I'm certainly not an aficionado, but I smoke a cheap cigar ($5-$10) about once per month, usually on a Friday evening to cap off the work week. I will even admit that I somewhat enjoy the really cheap sticks like Arturo Fuente and some Quorums.

I enjoy cigars as often as I can and consider myself knowledgeable in Cuban cigars. I like Trinidad and Partagas, some Cohibas, but also Bolivar, Por Larrañaga.. As for Trinidad, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I am also an avid pipe smoker and enjoy pipe tobacco more than any other type.

I only smoke cheap ones. The cigars I smoke are Wooden tips (Preffered) Black and Milds. I usually enjoy the wine and grape flavor, However I'm downright repulsed by the Vanilla flavor.

I smoke a few good cigars a year as a treat for myself. Usually Ashton brand. The rest of the time I smoke backwoods brand cigars, the swisher sweets of rednecks. This time of year I'm on my fishing boat a lot, so I smoke more than I do the rest of the year.

I've done cigars, but they are not cheap, require a good time commitment, and the smell lingers forever.
As for pipes, I'm a cheapo with drugstore aromatics, usually Captain Black white or royal.

Yes, Cubans are expensive, and for a reason.
But there are plenty of splendid quaint pipe blends out there, whether Scandinavian, British or American (usually southern). Family-run and very reasonable prices. Just the sort of thing we should be supporting.
