I think we need site-wide moderation on how videos are posted. If someone is posting a video, a short description (not to be confused with a comment) should be a requirement. Sometimes the stuff posted is on a topic I don't feel like hearing about, and a brief two or three sentence description would save everyone the trouble.
This could be done programmatically, no need for moderation.
Do you have to click play if you don't feel like hearing it?
No, of course I don't have to press play. If it's a subject I have no interest in I can just skip over the video.
But how will I know what the subject is without a description?
I know, it's confusing stuff and your mind is totally blown.
Well, you find that by pressing play and then make your mind up for yourself. Let's say though a description of said video was posted before and it doesn't fit with what you have seen there, what then?
I can read a description much faster than watching a video, especially something exceedingly long.
If the description doesn't match the video then whomever wrote it is an idiot, but at least he tried.
So you count on those kind of people save your time?
Are you arguing against people putting descriptions of videos they post?
Jesus Christ youre an asshole.
Yes.
This bugs me as well. You should be able to preview the video's content to decide whether it's worth watching. I don't like wasting my life on the time consuming internet stuff unless it's really good, so I'm probably missing some amazing videos because the lack of description fails to make it stand out.
Thread starters absolutely need to provide some modicum of context and not just a link to an article or video. Elsewhere, who cares, pass on it.
