That be a great idea. Keep in mind that irc will show your real ip address if you connect directly. Use a proxy or some other way to obscure you ip.

There's definitely networks that we could use that we would be bothered on. If not someone could set up a server for us to use. I'd even set one up if I can figure out a way to distribute the address without posting it publicly here, as I have a feeling we're going to be tightly monitored here.

Well, I set up an IRC server if anyone would like to use it. As AtlRedskull said, use a VPN or Proxy to obscure your IP. I'll do my best to make the server is as safe and secure as it can be. It seems to be working fine from my small bit of testing.

If you'd like access, message me and I'll check to see if you've been around either bit of time. If so, you can have the address, and share it with anyone else you're certain is fine to share it with.

How do they see the ip address? Don't the moderators there only have the power for that?

No, any client can whois on any other client. But, some servers support features that hide the IP. But, yeah, just use a VPN/proxy.

Matrix is a much better option than IRC, tho. It's federated, so there is no company to shut anyone down. Riot is one of the clients.
