The September 1, 1859, superstorm was the result of
a massive solar flare (Figure l) and coronal mass
ejection (CME) launched from a near-center-disk
sunspot group aimed directly at the Earth. The CME
was one of the fastest on record, arriving at the Earth
in approximately 17 hours (Green & Boardsen,
2005), and had a southward-oriented interplanetary
magnetic field (Koskinen & Huttunen, 2006).

The earth is heading for an ice age.
A grand solar minimum, means there is a minimum of sunspots. And sunspots are what cause solar flares.
