I'm still on Windows 7 Pro and I have disabled the auto update to Windows 10. I have no plans to update. IMO Windows 7 is the best version Microsoft ever produced. At least for people in one of the tech industries.

Some here hate Apple, but if you want something that "just works" you can't do better, (other than their major updates tend to break apps that weren't perfectly compliant).

I really want to quit Microsoft--or at least Windows--for a variety of reasons. Primarily, I feel like they've got their A-team on all things Azure, and their Z-team (from the slums of India) on the consumer side stuff--because the quality certainly feels that way. But damn if I can get myself converted to Excel for Mac. That thing is a piece of shit still.

Their ridiculous Safe Boot is driving me nuts. I'm used to having a cloned bootable hard drive so when things get FUBAR, you swap in the copy and carry on. This was easy with BIOS on XP. I am still trying to figure out how to do it with 10.

Yep, I am still on Windows 7 for all my machines and I will stay there. If all you want is some new UI (which sucks on Win 10 anyway) check out winstep.net it's a replacement UI that gives you some better stuff on the desktop. Looks cool, works nicely and supports multimonitor.
I would go to Linux but I must work with Visual Studio for my job so I can't switch

i never wanted 10 but i got tired of that gwx.exe always wanting me to update so i did figuring i could roll it back...

it was ok except for everytime they updated win10 it broke some thing or another and was always a hassle...

this last one i coulda fixed with the win10 iso but the max capacity i had for a disk or jumpdrive was 700mb and you needed 5 gigs for the iso...otherwise i coulda got it onto my main comp and repair consoled it or restored or whatever.

so i just wiped it and put win7 back on and ill try and stay on 7

i learned long ago to keep yer mods and games and stuff you dont wanna lose separate from the os, one drive should have only the os on it if posible

if u reformat then its a matter of fixing some shortcut paths and drive letters and registry keys to get back on track

I had to hack the fuck out of my windows 10 laptop to keep Cortana bitch from bothering me and turning off updates, plus other needless BS. It took about an hour of fcking about with the registry files but I managed it!

If only I could figure out how to get my own login pictures to come up...

Didn't you know that Microsft scans your hardrive for information they use for who knows what? And you can't disable it. Check the service called telemetry.

Windows 10 destroyed my fucking laptop with the constant updates. My C:/ drive got a little bit full, and so I set about freeing some space up so the fucking thing had enough room to update. Only I could never get enough room for it. One thing led to another, and now I have to format my laptop because it's a fucking brick. A bit of retardation on my part, but still, Windows 10 sucks ass. My absolute favorite feature is when the Realtek drivers that I haven't gotten around to uninstalling remind you not to turn your fucking volume up past 34 when you've got headphones on because you might hurt your ears (it has to do with EU regulations, which find a way to fuck with me even though I'm literally half a world away from its jurisdiction).
Add to that the fact that Windows 10 now gathers data about your browser habits, what you type, etc. by default (you have to go in and disable it now, instead of it being disabled by default, like before), and you've got a wonderful, wonderful OS.
