I really want to do one of those 80% billet ar15 lowers, but I need a good drill press for that.
If you have a dremil you can build out a 80%glock 19. Gonna run around 6 or 700 though. Glock 22 is a little cheaper 500? , but you need a press.
What's even more daunting is the effort needed to refine iron from ore in a pre-industrial setting.
Making things out of dirt is cool. But it's one heck of a lot of work.
Those piqued my interest a few years back when I first discovered them, but then I figured it would be very difficult to get sufficient strength in the assembly capable of withstanding the forces involved with firing a projectile. So I kind of lost interest until I heard some real-world feedback. To date, I know of no-one who's made their own (that can perform)--but I would love nothing more than to hear that it's feasible.
Notice how practically none of those men were out of shape. Most looked pretty fit and trim, even the older gentlemen.
Also, not a single one of those guys wore hearing protection, even when firing a .30-06 Remington 700.
