Get a lower resolution monitor. You save money on video cards, and monitors. Higher resolution is a big tax on video card. I'm using a gigantic lower resolution monitor. I got to move my head lots just to read stuff.
I'm still running a computer with 4 year old components ($220 CPU, $120 video card, $70 motherboard), bought 4 years ago at these prices, not manufactured 4 years ago, and it can still run everything including games like Planetside 2 which eats most people's computers up. Don't bother overclocking.
Use this: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_value.html Oh look my videocard is still in the top 10 after all this time. Spend $120
And use this: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_value_available.html (but ignore the 8 and 6 cores). Spend $200
Almost all games still only use 8 gig of memory too.
