Is there a device that sharpens while the chain is moving?... It would be more fun and probably more mechanically efficient~ although lots of safety measures would have to be built into it.

Cool. A dull chainsaw is dangerous, especially if you are taking down trees. Cleaning, sharpening, maintenance, makes the STIHL last for a decade at least. I got the STIHL dvd and suggest to chicks that we watch it, always good for a laugh.

Those rasp guides work great, most will smooth off and sharpen the rakes also. Million times easier than just using a rasp

Not even the Germans have invented that yet mate.
You can sharpen/clean a bit while using by going through different density timbers. If you were cutting soft wood and it got choked up, you go through a hard timber, so you don't have to stop the job and resharpen till lunch.

I have a Jonsered 535 that is probly 20+ years old. Runs like a raped ape. I also had a super old 14" stihl that i liked better but i blew it up (abuse).

I like old chainsaws. I want to hot rod the Jonsered but its almost a classic.

Now i want to go cut some wood. Lol

Just make sure your angle is correct and for god sake don't drag the file in reverse, forward only.

Spent a few years helping out a master totem pole carver/chainsaw madman, worked with some ninja arborists, and took down some big trees (brutally) on my friend's property.

And bar oil. I have to fill mine up almost twice per tank of 2stroke. Jonnies are known leakers tho.

I run nothing but Husqvarna. Stihl used to be the goto saw, but the quality went to shit. But, yeah bar oil and make sure the tension is set correctly on the chain.

They are a north east thing, or thats the only place ive seen them. Basically same story as stihl, used to be great now they make shitty models and the "pro" models are expensive as f.

One of these days ill find an old sachs dollmar and never buy another saw.

Old Jonsereds are great saws tho, old Swedish tech.

Best pic i can find. Not mine but same saw. Apparently models without a brake are rare, or there just isnt any pics online of them.
