Keto diet with lots of veggies and intermittent fasting worked the best for me. Don't count carbs for veggies, eat as much as you can/need.
Also, a lot of people say that meat is correlated with problems with heart and other things. Were those people actually eating healthy stuff and also having good meat (not mcdonalds or other shit)? 90% of those in the studies weren't. They were eating carbs and sugar with meat. And when you eat protein with meat afaik insulin spikes even more, leading to less insulin sensitivity, more insulin made by the body etc. So ofc it is correlated to more problems, when you eat unhealthy. And the people who don't eat meat most likely are more conscious of what they're eating, even if a lot of their food is just carbs.
Fasting for the benefits, you can just read on those, too many to count. And it fits like a glove with keto. So don't eat for like 18 hours, eat what you want otherwise and eat a lot of fat, moderate or low protein and a lot of veggies (i for one cannot eat that many proteins for ex, my max is what others call medium).
Maybe it's not for everyone, but for me it works. First week is the hardest. Then you can even not eat for days when your body is adapted to ketosis. It also helps the mind i find, feels calmer and decisive. Compared to munching all day long on snacks and eating junk and still feeling hungry.
