Passion of the Christ is a powerful, amazing movie, anyone who hasn't seen it should give it a watch

so is apocalypto. Bizarre, the first 10 minutes is extremely disorienting because it's like you are dropped in the center of an utterly alien world (you are, it's the pre-beaners), but from the 10 minute mark it just GOES and does not stop..I have no fucking idea how he pulled it off, it's amazing. (It also is a great lesson on why we DO NOT want these sub humans in our midst)

Apocalypto is great. Very simple but well told story and most of it was actually filmed.

The gauntlet / target practice scene is the one I recall.

It was so surreal yet authentic, I can really believe that originally that was a White city or one constructed with an earlier, advanced tribe in charge of things.

Mel is really good at making period peices

Yes, it has fraternal fighting and is apparently historically inaccurate, but it is Mel Gibson in top form.
