Half of the battle is finding the right paint. In a lot of cases, the paint being used is of more import than the airbrush. ( as near as I can tell,as long as you aren't using the mondo-cheapo Chinese slave labor produced ones, airbrushes are honestly pretty generic.)
I finally discovered 1-Shot(sp?) brand paint, and there are probably other equivalent paint brands out there,if you do some research. It's made for sign painters and other grapic artist types, and has a lot of pigment. I did a test-Rustoleum black vs. 1-Shot black, equal amounts of paint in jars filled the rest of the way with thinner. The 1-Shot,although much more expensive-looked to have almost twice as much pigment as the Rustoleum. So,to an extent, you get more for your money.
And you also get a wide variety of colors. Almost automotive colors, but without the hassle of large quantities, hardeners, reducers, etc. It's just plain old paint that can be thinned and cleaned up with mineral spirits.
