oh god,,, i love pre dreadnougth battleship i never allowed myself to start modeling because i know i will need all class for all countries

then i will need the cruisers too so they dont feel alone

so yeah i cant indulge haha

It does look pretty amazing and I didn't even know there was an aftermarket like for detailing. There are some awesome builds out there that are defining motivating And it gives me something to do waiting for parts for my 1/1

Do it man, it's so fun. Usually Ill spend a couple hours on Sunday morning drinking coffee taking my time with the build. If you build the model on a flat piece of cardboard you can set it on top of the fridge or bookshelf to save for space

That ship looks pretty intricate. There has to be hundreds of parts and as much in hours on that one. Have you checked ModelShipways for one? There are a couple American companies that supply kits but they're all wood and look pretty intimidating. At some time I'd like to build the Constitution but wood ships are nothing like plastic models and require many tools and heat forming the pieces of the hull

oh boy ...ships of the sail area will always be alot more complicated because of the rigging

as for bending the wood im pretty good at that i build full size sailboat =P

I have an old 1/32 scale Horton flying V vacuform kit somewhere. I need to put it together someday. With the vacuform kits, you have to do a lot of details yourself with unused parts from other kits or made with molds.

Absolutely stunning contributions to the thread. My brothers always did model building, I did sculpture and some decent. I always got thrown the hell out of their "studio" so I played with clay. Always intrigued me, still does.

The innovation and acumen so prevalent among White men continues to astound me. <3

I have a couple things built I haven't painted yet. A Tamiya M41 bulldog that's been sitting around and hasn't been painted in a few years. A partially assembled T-34 and a grey alien figure I was working on month or so ago. Most sanding down the parts where it connects to the mold tree.

It's something I have to be in the mood for. If it's forced it feels like work and I don't like that. every time I feel like painting the M41 some BS pops up.

It will have a 10-meter wingspan powered by a Rotax 912. 120 knot cruise. Construction will be a foam-core, fiberglass and epoxy composite matrix.

Ive done alot of Models in my time, and the hardest things i have ever done were from Forgeworld for Warhammer 40k.

Ignore the fact that it looks easy, and looks like mostly big pieces, (there are some really tricky bits too)
This stuff is so fucking hard to put together.
For some reason, there are always warped parts and loads of parts that over fit, sometimes (ive never ecountered this but friends have) bitz that don't meet, to you have to go all plasticard + green stuff johnny commando with the kits.
Often takes hours of filing stuff down to match up properly, submerging parts in hot (but not too hot) water, and bending and warping the components back into their actual position, and hours and fucking hours and hours and hours and more hours of filing shit to meet up.

You finally have something that looks fucking awesome and is actually somehow worth it!!

Well, that's model building!
Sure, it's nice when everthing fits right and when there is zero flash on the sprue, alignment is seamless and nothing is deformed... but where's the fun in that? All instruction sheets should be full of errors!

Blood -slipping with the exacto blade,
Sweat -forgetting to turn on the fan because you're too concentrated in the build to notice 'til it stings your eyes, and
Tears -when the fucking parts don't cooperate

It's totally worth it!
