My history and preference is for small to mid-sized Jap standards. Motorcyclists are already a mere 2 or 3% of motorists in the US, so I don't really need anything fancy for snob appeal. I like light and nimble, and rider skill ultimately counts for way more than excess vehicle capability. Plus they are fun and cheap, and I don't need more temptation to grossly exceed speed limits or get into risky situations.
As with cars, I used to think ABS was a gimmick for rubes, but now would not buy a motorcycle without it. I'm still undecided on linked braking systems.
