Mine used to be my safe space lols
Now i barely have room for the bikes and a 4runner. Damn mowers and snowblowers, spare appliances etc. family life kicked my garage life right in the asshole. Haha.

That sporty in the original post is going to be the boys first ride. Thats the only reason i still have it rolling around.

Reclaim that bitch! I have to have a garage myself. I made sure everyone knew its MINE...Lol. But yeah, i sure understand the family always wanting to put shit into the garage crap. I fought long and hard, to this day sometimes, to keep it mine. The 883r i kept the orange race paint and didnt do much to it. I didnt have it too long. The straight drag pipes made it sound pretty good for a 883. Im not a fan of the 2 into 1 pipes. Even if its better performance.

2005 zx6r / 636. Has about 40k miles on it.

Velocity stacks, brakes, and rear shock from 2012 zx6r, custom side exhaust, pc3, and some other crap. Absolutely love it.

For a 6 series bike, this thing is pretty comfortable. So far, only real issue was a fuel pump failure.

I don't ride motorcycles any more.

The two motorcycles I used to own and ride were -

1983 Yamaha Maxim 750
1986 Suzuki Intruder 700

Somewhere around 13,000 miles between the both of them, which is nothing special.

Generally good experiences with both, though it would have been nice if the Intruder had a kick start.

Dropped the Maxim twice in the same night (at 45, then 35 mph) due to being reckless on wet roads.

Dropped the Intruder once (at 25 mph) due to failing to see gravel in the road on a curve.

Helmet saved my ass when I dropped the bike at 45 mph. I could hear and feel it grinding against the asphalt as I slid.

The garage will reclaimed once the boy is big enough to turn a wrench.

I put V&H short shots on the old 883. It sounded pretty good but then the 1200 kit made a whole different animal! For a while i wanted to upgrade to 1250 and get the heads worked over, or xb heads but compared to my other bike it would still be slow as f. It is a fun bike regardless.

Sadly it had already been "painted" before i bought it and the glorious orange was a really bad black powder coat job.

So i just went ahead and chopped the f out of it. Later maybe 1250 and super trapp 2 into one just for dat powah!! Lol

Pretty sure i am going to remove the rear end and cafe it eventually.

Heh.

The Maxim wasn't just the first motorcycle I'd owned, it was the first vehicle I'd ever owned.

So I had some learning to do, and a couple of the lessons were a bit painful.

I didn't break any bones, so that's good -- and that Maxim was quite sturdy, taking only minor cosmetic damage from the 45 and 35 mph spills. Still ran like a champ when I sold it before moving out of state.

anyway nice bikes sir. as for myself i dont have bikes anymore i use to ride old CB, almost all the kind but i avoided the drive shafted ones

I shouldn't get too specific here, but the mid-80s Honda CB that was a 750cc tariff evader was a fantastic bike with a narrow little inline four and nice long drive shaft that was virtually free of the weird handling effects that you'll get from other shafties.

I havent gotten into the bottom of the motor yet. If i do i would go 1250 top and machined heads, red shift cams and forged connecting rods. Thats all pipe dreams though. Its fast enough and ive finally gotten it to hold together in its current configuration. I lifted the heads three times, twice on the front head and once on the rear just from riding like an asshole. The evo motors cant handle constant spanking, ive learned that. Lol.

Ive never owned a shaft drive bike. Im sure its a good driveline but i like chains and sprokets. I almost bought a shovel head just to not have the belt drive on the evo.

yeah anyway when you want to go fast you have the right rig to do it. i never really understood what harleys are for but when you want to do it you have it. honestly if they were 4000$ brand new (as they should be) i think they would be awsome.

yeah, why they put belt WHY!?!?! its not like chains make so much problem...with my poor man rockets lol i had few problems but chain was never one of them ...my custom carbs set up and chewed up gear synchro due to agressive shifting often was lol

Harleys are for nostalgia, thats about it besides the cool factor that comes from the nostalgia. They are big, loud and slow but cool. Lol.

The belt drive is supposed to be almost maintinance free is the only reason i can come up with as to why they use it. Im fine with replacing a chain every 10k miles or so. Belts are gay!!

i like nostalgia and old rigs! what kill it for harley is that they semi modernised them as an excuse to ask 25 000 for them...there is one too much 0 in the price they ask for 1950's thecnology bikes. can you just imagine the profit they clear on those!

priced as they should be i'd probably exclusively owned harleys in my life

They are marketed as "freedom" but a lot of models come with touch screen GPS. Hahahahaha! Ha, haha!

The rumpety rump, dddd rump, rumpety rump sound caused by the constant fireing coil is the business. I give credit to HD for not shying away from that with complete disregard to performance. Im very annoyed with the comfort factor shit they started in early millenium though. Rubber engine mounts, supple suspention, Fuel injection, abs etc. HD should be bare bones, fire breathing, vibration untill you get whatever the fuck Michael Fox has old, greasy, shitty, business.
They lost that in the late 80's.

Replacing screw tappets with shims was a great leap forward in engine maintenance technology, rarely requiring a shim change. Legitimate CBX maintenance to the valves and carbs was nearly non-existent provided everything was set up correctly at the factory. The only real drawback was the 'shim on top of bucket' occasionally spit out the shim at high rpms - the 'shim under bucket' design introduced by Kawasaki(?) for motorcycle applications corrected this.

My current bike utilizes 'shim under bucket' technology and shim changes are unheard of except at dealers gouging their customers.
