8th SS Cavalry Division Florian Geyer. My family is mixed Romanian and ethnic German, so he volunteered as a foreigner. He arrived a little late, by the time they were in Belarus. He was wounded in January of '44 I think, shrapnel in his hands from a grenade. They sent him back home to recover and prepare for becoming a military lawyer - which obviously never happened. He had two brothers who also served in the Waffen SS. Both of them died after the war, at the hands of the Russians, or Serbs. It was truly terrible what the Communists did to ethnic Germans after the war ended.
