That whole bit about religion being the "opium of the masses" was a very misleading half-truth. It can be a drug that puts people to sleep ... as can any other corrupted institution. Sports is another cultural institution that can have the same effect for the same reasons. Or you could look at music or dance or literature or any other cultural institution at all, and you will see that when it is corrupted, it acts like a drug on the population.

Jews, I am sure, are keenly aware of this and I'm sure Marx was. But he gives this selected fact and lies by omission.

I don't get it.
Either (G)od grants your wishes/prayers or he does not .If it does not come to fruition are we to believe what? The prayer was unheard or the Faith is not strong enough?
What I distrust the most about Christianity is HOW well they cover their collective ass.

No. It's not a wish-fulfillment dispensary in the sky. This is just a completely wrong approach. This is what the church at the mall is selling. It isn't actually religion. It's more along the lines of a budget self-help seminar or something.

In genuine faith, God is the most terrifying thing you can possibly imagine. You don't get mad at him for not helping to find your car keys or get laid or make more money or whatever, unless you're totally insane. You ask for help to stop sinning.
