Net Neutrality?

Can someone please explain to me the endless kvetching about this net neutrality bullshit? I'd try to learn more on my own, but this is damn near the only source of news I trust anymore.

Say an internet provider says it wants money from Netflix or it will cap the speed you can stream on that service stopping users from streaming at higher quality till they pay up.

That would be a violation of 'net neutrality' so I guess it's just not regulating the speed at which certain data can be accessed or blocking anyone from accessing any of it.

So there's that and apart from not limiting services it's the idea of no regulations so basically the dark web. Unless that does have regulations.

I've heard stuff about ISPs being able to limit access to certain sites to more expensive packages, or something like that. If that's the case, wouldn't sites like this be at risk of being completely restricted? I'd think that that'd be cause for concern, if true.

Without net neutrality imagine Jewish Internet providers being able to be as Jewish as possible with no government regulation.

It's neutral treatment of data by ISPs. The alternative proposed system is for ISPs to speed up data transfer from sources that pay them. In practice they could also probably censor sources.
