I've researched Gnosticism a bit and it is interesting to say the least. Especially the concept that the creator expects us to gain "gnosis" to become divine and be worthy of standing by his side, not simply grovelling at his feet. If I were a great doctor and my son wanted to become a physician as well, then, as a loving father, I'd want him to become a better doctor than I ever was... Or in the case of a perfect being, perfect as well.
Of course, maybe not and God would get mad
