An elder can do like what I'm doing.
Store up high quality walkie talkie type radios, to then form a network. Then organize your neighbors into a militia.
There are enough guns and bullets, but there is not enough communication and intelligence. An older person can provide this needed function.
Store up dried beans, your milita can go along time on beans. And water. Water is already in hot water tanks, so make your members store this water for drinking only. Make your milita neighbors store beans and canned meat. Get out and talk to your neighbors in advance. Some are thinking the same as you. Most are happy to join, practically jumping at the opportunity.
Without co-ordinated intelligence, neighborhoods will fall to raiding pavement niggers. Setting up perimeters, snipers on roofs, having a badge system for entry and exit, will lock down an area. Random niggers moving as a mob, are not intelligent. They can be spooked, or killed if they show as a mortal threat.
The radios need to be charged by solar power in case power grid goes down. Make friends with the local sheriff department. Police departments are likely to be the enemy.
It is a several thousand dollars to prepare, but that much is easily spent on guns and ammo. You wont be spending on guns and ammo, instead you will be using what is already out there. Mobile patrols, sectors, check-ins, central command, etc. All of that is do-able, but the radios are missing key element. Leadership is a key element.
