Oh boy.
I tried two "Tales" games (Tales of Phantasia & Tales of Symphonia).
My experience with both games was as follows:
"Hmm, decent graphics. Characters look good, dialogue seems okay. Alright."
"Oh, this isn't menu-based. It's action. Neat!"
"Two dungeons into the game; plot's thickening. What happens next? Gotta find out..."
"....Okay, these dungeons are starting to get overbearing. I was hoping to get through this dungeon in one sitting, but I'll have to finish it tomorrow. I'm out of patience today."
"FUCK THESE FUCKING RETARDED DUNGEONS!!! WHO THE FUCK CAME UP WITH THESE BULLSHIT PUZZLES?!? THIS IS THE THIRD GODDAMNED DAY IN A ROW I'VE TRIED TO COMPLETE THIS FUCKING DUNGEON, AND THE END AIN'T ANYWHERE IN SIGHT!! FUCK THESE DUNGEONS, FUCK THESE CHARACTERS, FUCK THIS PLOT, FUCK THIS GAME!! REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE(etc)"
....Obviously, it did not go well.
But there have been plenty of "Tales" games released since then. Maybe they've gotten better.
For your sake, I hope they did.
On another note, I'm almost always sober and therefore have no real list of games-to-play-while-drinking.
Good luck!
