Right now Steam has FFVII but GOG doesn't. The problem is Square makes you sign up with their digital distribution service even when you play the game with Steam, which seems to be against GOG's policy.

Right now there is a game called Mobius Final Fantasy on Steam which is supposed to have tie-ins with the FFVII remake. Since the remake has now been confirmed for PC, my guess is it will be available on Steam but not GOG.

I noticed that. Waste of time, I say. Add in the downgraded FPS in many of them, and emulated versions come off as the best versions to play.

As for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, it looks like it'll use the FFXV engine. If that means as big a world as we had in VII in that engine, I'll be slightly interested.

My cousin in Texas has a gaming rig set up with an HD TV and the Dolphin Emulator. He has a lot of games to play to, like Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Double Dash, Metroid Prime, the stuff from our childhood ya know?

Anyway, I think it's easy to set up pretty easily.

I'm sure Youtube has some tutorials.

Heads up to anyone looking for a free, WW2 based multiplayer game... I hated World of Tanks, War Thunder is shit (installed it, played two matches as a German fighter plane, and could not believe people play that shit - even for free)... finally gave World of Warships a shot after it being out for a while and getting bored one night a while back.

German Cruisers ftw (I actually don't even know if they're good in the meta yet, only been playing it for a few days and just unlocked this beauty, but I love the way they play... comes natural and I was racking up 4-5 kills in my first few games with the first tiers of German ships):

I usually can only stomach turn-based tactical/strategy stuff (Panzer Corps, To End All Wars, etc, etc) or more social, political games (like Diplomacy) - but this shit has me back into real-time action gaming, at least for the time being. In that, it succeeded where so many other games have failed. We'll see if the shine wears off like with most F2P games.

I've been playing M & B Warband with the Brytenwalda mod. Damn what a great mod of a great game. If you like the dark age 7th century period of the British Isles definitely check it out.

Used to love this game. Prophecy of Pendor was my fave mod just because of the insane difficulty early on (more fantasy stuff than in other mods).

Vanilla MP jousting on Arena map at old LAN parties with racist tech buddies, some of the best gaming related times I've had.

I bought the expansion the Brytenwalda team was hired to make, haven't gotten around to playing it.

I learned once reaching Tier 4, that might as well be the company motto.

Still a blast, especially in comparison to other offerings. I can't imagine being one of those types who isn't happy without a top tier ship on one of these games, though. That's a path to madness and turns a fun tactical 20 minutes into hours of monotony.

Part of why I played DOTA over that childish LoL crap during MOBA days, though. No level grinding. No unlocking.

Edit: one other thing I love... more mature playerbase. Seems a lot of ex servicemen who know how to not just rush in with a single cruiser. I hate games that rely on teamwork where the average IQ is Brazil-tier (and yet, I played DOTA.. hmm..).

Your story sounds very similar to mine. One of my earliest gifts I remember was my NES at age 4 or 5 from my dad. We hooked it up and I became enthralled playing Super Mario and Dig Dug. As the years went on, it seemed like my dad wanted my siblings and I to have every generation console. We got the Genesis, followed by the Sega CD (an under-appreciated system) and 32X. When Sega Saturn came out, he insisted we get that instead of Playstation. Meanwhile, my grandmother got me the SNES at HER house when I went to visit, and eventually the Nintendo 64 and Playstation. My adolescent years were spent mostly gaming, it seemed. From Mario to Sonic, Super Metroid to Sewer Shark to DOOM, Virtua Fighter to Mario again....and then Resident Evil. The latter game was very important to me, and really got me interested in games with mature subject matter and complex story lines. Between all these systems, I also had the Game Gear and when Pokemon came out I got a Game Boy.

In my teenage years, my Sega-fanatic father continued his tradition and bought us the Dreamcast, another under-appreciated console. At grandma's I had the PS2. We would eventually also go through the range of Xboxes. At some point I also got into emulating old games on the computer, which is how I got to enjoy the ORIGINAL

Playing video games was an incredibly important part of my life growing up, for better or worse. I went outside and played with my friends, but the consoles occupied a little more of my time. I should have gone outside more,l no doubt, but I still appreciate all the joy I was brought by those pixellated quests and stories!

If any of you have kids, be sure to regulate their intake of this stuff, though

It sounds almost similar except my dad didn't get into video games. He didn't care really. Also I never had a Sega CD, 32X or a Dreamcast. I also never had a computer capable of running Doom.

The only time I got to play games like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D was when I played them at my friends house, his dad used to build computers all the time.

Just saying that like you, I ran a large gauntlet of consoles over the years. I played DOOM with 32X initially though, not really PC.

YES!! FF8 WAS the BEST. Best story, best music, coolest characters, and the junction systme actually was fun when you got the hang of it

You should get an emulator and play the original MG and MG2: Solid Snake on the PSX Home Computer.

First time I ever played Doom in my own house was on the SNES. I bought it for about $10 before a video rental store closed down back in the late 90's. Probably around 1997 or so. I played Duke Nukem for the first time on the PlayStation.

I didn't get a computer till about 2000-2001. Even then it wasn't a new one. It also had hardware from the mid to late 90's.
