Here is some text taken from the book Wofuer kaempfen wir (What are we fighting for) - published by the HR department of the German forces in 1944 (Personal-Amt des Heeres), p. 67
"Wir glauben als Nationalsozialisten an eine göttliche Weltordnung als eine sinnvolle Ordnung, in die es sich einzufügen gilt, die kämpfend und schaffend aufrechtzuerhalten ist. Aus diesem Glauben erwuchs auch das, was wir als kennzeichnenden Wesenszug nordischen Menschentums empfinden, was im Midgardgedanken der Germanen ebenso Ausdruck fand wie etwa im Kosmosgedanken der Griechen.
We as national socialist believe in a divine order of the world as a meaningful order in which it is necessary to fit in, which must be sustained and maintained by fighting and creating. It was what also arose from this belief that what we perceive as the characteristic feature of Nordic humanity, which was expressed in the Midgard ideas of the Germans as well as in the thought about the cosmos of the Greeks.
Wir glauben, daß auch die Rassen und Völker Glieder dieser göttlichen Schöpfungsordnung sind und daß sie innerhalb dieser Ordnung ihre bestimmte Aufgabe haben. Je klarer ein Volk seine Aufgabe zu erkennen vermag, je reiner und reicher es seine ihm innewohnenden Fähigkeiten entfaltet, desto größer wird sein Beitrag sein, die sinnvolle Ordnung des Ganzen sicherzustellen.
We believe that the races and peoples are members of this divine order of creation, and that they have their particular task within this order. The more precise a nation can see its task, the purer and richer it unfolds its own abilities, the greater will be its contribution to ensuring the sensible order of the whole.
Wir glauben, daß der Mensch als seiner selbst bewußtes geistiges Wesen vom Schöpfer der Welten die Aufgabe mitbekommen hat, sich Lebensformen und Lebensaufgaben, also eine Gesittung zu schaffen, die Höheres bedeutet als die bloße Befriedigung der niedersten Lebensbedürfnisse.
We believe that man as a self-conscious spiritual being, from the creator of the worlds, has acquired the task of creating life-forms and life-tasks, that is a morality which means higher than the mere satisfaction of the lowest necessities of life.
Wir glauben also an die Aufgabe der Steigerung des Menschen. Ihr dient letzten Endes unser Kampf - und unerbittlich muß er sein gegen alles, was dieser Aufgabe entgegensteht, denn die sinnvolle Erfüllung gerade dieser Aufgabe ist davon abhängig, daß die höchstentwickelte, schöpferischste und befähigste Rasse den entscheidenden Einfluß auf die Lebensordnungen der Völker der Erde behält. Vergessen wir dabei nicht, daß mit der Bedrohung unseres Volkes und des Germanentums überhaupt die Urheimat der Rasse bedroht ist, die sich bisher als die berufenste erwiesen hat: die Urheimat und der noch am stärksten fließende Quell der nordischen Rasse.
We thus believe in the purpose of the improvement of mankind. In the end, that is what our fight/struggle is for - and it must be inexorably against everything that is contrary to this task, because the appropriate fulfilling of exactly this task depends on the fact that the most developed, most creative, and the most capable race retains a decisive influence on the life orders of the peoples of the earth. Let us not forget that with the threat of our people and Germanism ( Teutonism) in general, the native home of the race is threatened, which has hitherto proved to be one of the most competent: the native home and the most abundant source of the Nordic race."
